Need Help Choosing a Car Seat?
Seat is Good for You If:
You have a tall child.
The Chicco OneFit has a tall harness height of 18.5" and it has a standing height limit of 54" for the harness mode. Both of these features make this seat a great option for taller kids.
You want a car seat that’s easy to install.
The easiest way to install the Chicco OneFit is with the lower anchors thanks to Chicco’s SuperCinch lower anchor tighteners. But these can only be used until the child is 35 pounds for rear-facing mode and 40 pounds for forward-facing mode. The seat belt installation is pretty easy as well though since it does have lock-offs.
You want a car seat with a seat belt lock-off.
If you are planning to use a car seat in a vehicle that is older than 1996 or you want a seat with a lock-off because you are traveling internationally, this could be a good option for you, although it is a bit heavy. If you would like a seat that is a bit lighter, check out our review of the Graco Triogrow.
Use Caution if:
You have a vehicle with non-removable headrests.
This would only be an issue once you get to forward-facing mode. Chicco does not want the vehicle’s headrest to push the Chicco’s headrest forward. Since the Chicco OneFit has many recline options, you may find that this seat will work in your vehicle. But when in doubt, the best thing to do is to contact Chicco and see if they approve the setup!
You need to fit 3 people in one row of the vehicle.
Since the Chicco OneFit is 19 inches wide and most vehicles cannot accommodate a car seat this size in a three-across configuration, this would not be your best option for this kind of scenario. Instead, try one of our recommended car seats for 3 across.
You want to use a convertible seat from birth.
The harness height is low enough to fit a newborn. The problem we have found is the recline. In vehicles with very sloped seats, it is not always possible to recline the seat enough for a newborn. Chicco does not allow the use of rolled towels or pool noodles to increase the recline. If your vehicle has very flat seats, this seat may work from birth.
It's hard to buckle in booster mode.
Because the Chicco OneFit sits up very high as compared to dedicated boosters, it can be difficult for the child to reach the buckle. Here we have an almost 10 year old model demonstrating how difficult it is. But it is impressive that this seat gave our 53" and 57 pound model a great seat belt fit. This is one of the few all-in-one seats that can actually fit a 10 year old in the high back booster mode.
Quirks to be Aware of:
Has recline bubble for harness and booster modes
Recline bubbles are uncommon on forward-facing harnessed seats and even rarer with boosters. But this seat has a recline bubble for each of those. The Chicco MyFit has 4 recline options to help you get the bubble in the right area.
Child Fit Information
We were able to try a 2 month old in this seat. She was 10.5 pounds and 23" tall. She had a great harness fit!
Installation Information
Airplane Use
The Chicco OneFit is an aircraft-approved car seat when used in the rear or forward-facing harness modes. At 25 pounds, it is one of the heavier seats available. If traveling internationally, this seat has a belt lock-off, so it will work well.

SITS Bottom Line
The Chicco OneFit has an 18.5" harness height and a 54" height limit, making it a good choice for taller children. The seat installs easily with Chicco’s SuperCinch lower anchors (usable up to 35 pounds rear-facing and 40 pounds forward-facing) or with the built-in seat belt lock-offs. It’s not recommended for three-across setups due to its 19-inch width. The OneFit may have issues fitting in vehicles with non-removable, forward-tilting headrests in forward-facing mode, so checking compatibility with Chicco is advised.
