If you’re having twins, all your baby gear has to be strategic. You can’t compromise on functionality, quality, and ease of use, because everything needs to work twice as hard for you. However, that can make building a registry and preparing for your baby seem intimidating, especially for the big stuff like car seats and strollers.

With twins, a double stroller is a must. Toting a car seat on each arm doesn’t sound like a big deal until you realize there are no free hands to open a door, pick up your keys, or literally do anything else. It’s just not practical. A stroller designed specifically for twins will make everything easier, from running errands to keeping up with your favorite hobbies.

So, today, we’re going to discuss double strollers and give you some of our favorite travel systems for twins. Here’s what all twin-moms-to-be need to know:

What Is a Twin Stroller Car Seat Combo?

A twin stroller car seat combo is a travel system that can accommodate two babies. On the surface, it’s just a double stroller, but it’s specifically designed to be compatible with dual infant car seats. It allows parents to transition their twins effortlessly from car to stroller and back again. That simple convenience makes a world of difference when you’re juggling two newborns and all their gear.

How Does a Twin Stroller with Car Seats Work?

A twin stroller with car seats allows you to attach two infant car seats directly onto the stroller frame. That means even before your infants are big enough for full-size stroller seats, you can still enjoy the convenience of a double stroller.

The stroller frame either has built-in connectors or uses adapters that click the car seats securely into place. So, when it is time to go somewhere, you simply release each car seat from its base and lock it into the stroller frame. Once you reach your destination, you can detach the car seats and snap them back into their bases inside the vehicle. It’s that easy!

As your twins grow, you can put the infant seats away and switch to the stroller’s full-size seats using the same frame. This system makes travel super efficient, cutting back on all the lifting, buckling, and transferring you need to do.

Do You Need a Double Stroller with Car Seat Combo?

Yes. If you’re expecting twins, a car seat travel system is your ticket to actually getting out of the house. Without it, every errand or outing can turn into a huge hassle. Sure, you could use a stroller wagon or standard double stroller, but most can’t hold two infant car seats. And, let’s be realistic, constantly transferring your babies in and out of their seats is impractical in every way.

That’s why we always recommend a twin travel system for parents expecting multiples. It’s one of the easiest ways to simplify your day and make life with two newborns a little more manageable.

Here’s why a twin travel system is worth it:

  • All-in-one solution: Everything you need comes together in one system. This includes the two car seats, the car seat bases, the stroller, and any necessary attachments.
  • Easier transitions: Move your babies from the car to the stroller without disturbing them, making outings much smoother.
  • Newborn ready: Babies can’t sit in a stroller without a car seat until they’re able to sit up on their own, unless it has a lie-flat more or a bassinet attachment. However, with a travel system, babies can sit comfortably in their car seats while riding in the stroller.
  • More cost-effective: Purchasing a complete system often costs less than buying separate seats, adapters, and a stroller.
  • Space-saving design: You won’t need multiple single strollers and double strollers to suit your needs. With a twin travel system, you get all the functionality you need from one handy piece of gear.
  • Long-term versatility: Most twin travel systems adapt as your babies grow, allowing you to mix and match car seats, stroller seats, and bassinets.

What Are the Best Twin Strollers with Car Seats Combo?

Tandem: Chicco Corina Together Double Stroller with Chicco KeyFit 30

If you’re looking for a tandem double car seat stroller (where children sit one behind the other), the Chicco Corina Together Double Stroller is a great choice. It’s moderately priced and compatible with one of our favorite infant car seats for twins: the Chicco KeyFit 30. We recommend these seats for twin parents because they’re preemie-friendly, fitting smaller newborns safely.

You’ll also appreciate the stroller’s practical features, like a self-standing fold for easy loading in and out of the car and a large zippered storage basket. It also includes a multi-position handle and all-wheel suspension for a smoother ride.

Tandem: Baby Jogger City Select 2 with Evenflo LiteMax

For a tandem stroller packed with convenience features that make traveling with twins easier than ever, the Baby Jogger City Select 2 is a great choice. The frame is impressively lightweight at around 27 pounds. Plus, the compact one-step fold is 20% smaller than most double stroller frames, making it ideal for small trunks or tighter spaces.

t’s also compatible with preemie-friendly car seat options, such as the Chicco KeyFit 30 and Nuna Pipa RX, when using adapters. (These items are sold separately).

The Baby Jogger City Select 2 not only works with two infant car seats, but you can also add a stroller board to accommodate a third child. It’s a great option for parents who already have a toddler or older child. With 24 possible configurations across infant carriers, stroller seats, and the standing platform, the stroller can easily adapt to your family’s changing needs over time.

Other features we love include the large under-seat storage basket, reclining stroller seats, height-adjustable handlebars, all-terrain tires, and front-wheel suspension.

Tandem: Baby Trend Snap-N-Go Double Stroller with Chicco KeyFit 30

Everything about having twins is expensive—double the baby, double the price. For a lightweight, budget-friendly option that still gets the job done, we recommend the Baby Trend Snap-N-Go Double Stroller.

Its simple design hits all the essentials: a huge storage basket, a convenient parent tray, and a quick, compact fold for easy transport. While we’re not big fans of Baby Trend infant car seats, this stroller works perfectly with the Chicco KeyFit 30 or Evenflo LiteMax, no adapters required.

Side-by-Side: Bumbleride Indie Twin with Clek Liing

If you’d prefer a side-by-side stroller, we’ve got options for you, too. The Bumbleride Indie Twin Travel System comes with everything you need. This includes twin-friendly car seats (Clek Liing), the stroller, and the necessary adapters. While it carries a higher price tag, many parents find it worthwhile for its convenience and quality.

The Bumbleride is narrow enough to fit through standard doorways, so no tight squeezes are necessary. Plus, it features air-filled tires with all-wheel suspension for easy maneuvering despite its larger size. This travel system also has a compact standing fold with autolock for smooth transitions in and out of the vehicle. Other features include extra-large canopies, an adjustable handlebar, and multiple configuration options across standing boards, bassinets, infant carriers, and stroller seats.

If sustainability is important to you, you’ll appreciate this stroller’s eco-friendly and hypoallergenic design. It’s made from non-toxic, recycled materials and is free from flame retardants, PFAS, polyurethane foam, and more. Even the packaging is plastic-free, making it a responsible choice for environmentally conscious families.

Side-by-Side: Nuna Demi Next with Pipa Urbn

Another great tandem option is the Nuna Demi Next. It's possible to buy it as a travel system for twins that comes with 2 Nuna Pipa Urbn car seats. The stroller can accommodate the two car seats or you can attach bassinets. A Rider Board can also be added. Like many strollers on this list, it offers a variety of configuration options to suit your family’s needs.

The Nuna Demi Next is under 30 lbs and folds small enough to fit into most vehicles. At only 24 inches wide, it should also fit through most doorways. Once your children graduate to the full-size seats, you’ll appreciate features like reclining seats and 5-point harnesses. Additional conveniences include a storage basket and pockets, an extra-long canopy, and an adjustable handlebar.

Jogging: BOB Gear Revolution Flex 3.0 Duallie with Chicco KeyFit 30

If you plan to exercise with your twins or navigate various terrains, a jogging stroller is a smart pick. The BOB Gear Revolution Flex 3.0 Duallie features mountain-bike-like suspension, air-filled tires, adjustable front wheel tracking, a multi-position handle, and a durable aluminum frame. It is hands-down one of the top performers in its class. However, jogging should not be done until the babies are at least 6 months old or have good neck control!

For car seats, we recommend the Chicco KeyFit 30. Additional features active families will enjoy include 10 storage pockets, reclining stroller seats, water-resistant fabric, and reflective accents for visibility. While the stroller is fairly large when folded, removing the wheels makes it more compact for storage or transport.

Jogging: Thule Urban Glide 3 Double with Nuna PIPA

The Thule Urban Glide 3 Double is another great quality jogging stroller that can accommodate two car seats. It has all the things you prioritize in a jogger, like an adjustable handlebar, a swivel or locking front wheel, quality suspension, air-filled tires, and reflective designs. It even features a hand brake!

The double stroller can be used in a variety of twin-friendly configurations. Some of these options include dual infant carriers, stroller seats, or bassinets, depending on your preference. There’s also a fourth option of using the stroller seats with a special newborn insert. To add dual infant carriers, you will need two add-on adapters. Then it’s compatible with plenty of preemie-friendly car seats like the Nuna PIPA line and the Britax Willow

Beyond its all-terrain and jogging features, the Urban Glide 3 offers lots of storage space, adjustable seats, a large canopy, magnetic buckles, and a surprisingly compact one-hand fold. Although it has a large profile, it still should easily pass through most doorways.

Modular: Evenflo Pivot Xpand Modular with Evenflo LiteMax

Modular strollers, like the Evenflo Pivot Xpand Modular, are similar to tandem strollers, but offer added flexibility. Unlike traditional tandems, modular designs let you reverse seat directions and mix and match seating types without extra adapters or parts. This model is also compatible with a rider board, allowing room for up to three passengers. It’s a great option for growing families or twin parents who value versatility.

The Pivot Xpand Modular easily converts from a single stroller to a double stroller in seconds—no tools or extra attachments required. You can also swap in accessories, like a large storage basket, when using it in single mode. Beyond its modular design, standout features include large cruising wheels, multi-position reclining seats, adjustable canopies, and a height-adjustable handlebar for added comfort.

For car seats, we recommend pairing it with the Evenflo LiteMax, which clicks directly into the frame without adapters. It’s also compatible with other twin-friendly options like the Chicco KeyFit 30 when using the appropriate adapters.
